Ludacris Goes In Hard On Big Sean & Drake

So there’s been a lot of buzz bout this today. Recently, Drake and Big Sean have been publicly putting down other rappers who try and emulate “their” style of hashtag rap. For those who don’t know what hashtag rap is, it’s a style that Drake, Big Sean, Nicki Minaj, and Kanye West have made famous as of late, simile rapping but substituting a pause instead of the word like or as.

Examples:

“Swimming in the money, come and find me. Nemo
If I was at the club, you know I balled. Chemo” – Drake “Forever”

“Used to the bottom. Scuba
So I’m on the grind. Skateboard or scoota.
Til I am the king of my castle. Koopa.
Dawg i took a shot in the dark in an industry of sharks
That’s surrounded by water. Cuba.” – Big Sean “Supa Dupa”

Drake actually says that Big Sean is the innovator for this style of rap because of his constant use of it in “Supa Dupa”. Both artist publicly bash rappers who use hashtag rapping but with the crappiest punchlines. Both of their references? Ludacris.

“Coming down the street like a parade. Macy’s!
I fill her up. Balloons!” – Ludacris “My Chick Bad”

This is Ludacris’ response

Counterfeit rappers say I’m stealing they flows,
but I can’t steal what you never made up bitch

Let me explain, nothing’s been new since Big Daddy Kane
Flows will get recycled, passed around to different names.

Eleven years, and still countin’
And y’all get a couple hit records, make some noise and have the nerve to start shouting?

You lyin’ to yourself, just admit it
May not like the way I used it, but you know you ain’t invent it, boy
Do your research before you make a claim so bogus that’s disrespecting pioneers in the game

My Chick Bad went platinum, still winning motherfucker!
