DMC DeLorean Electric Available In 2013 At $95,000

Although the DeLorean has not been upgraded into a time machine just yet, the next best thing was showcased at this year’s New York International Auto Show. Those following closely to the cult vehicle would have heard the news of its EV status. Gone is the gas tank and in comes a power plug, connected with a socket hidden behind the front grill. The good news is that it is confirmed this converted DMC-12 will be going into production with a launch scheduled for early 2013. At the back of the vehicle, the conventional engine is replaced by a 32-kWh lithium iron phosphate battery pack, rated to produce 125 miles per hour top speed and a range of 100 miles. An investment of $95,000 is required to drive this DMCev home but perhaps they will find a way to upgrade it to a time machine in the not so distant future.
