Adidas Cancels That Ugly Ass Jeremy Scott Sneaker I Told You Guys About Last Week

Due to a widespread of comments on social media that claimed they symbolized enslavement, last night Adidas finalized the cancellation of the JS Roundhouse Mid, a high top purple sneaker with orange shackle-like ankle cuffs made in collaboration with over the top fashion designer Jeremy Scott (picture Above).

Hours later, after getting over a thousand comments with negative feedback including a blog post by the Rev. Jesse Jackson, the shoe company pulled the design.

Still, according to Associate Press, Adidas defended Scott, who has the reputation for getting his inspiration from cartoon characters, by saying his actions weren't malicious but rather another attempt to be outrageous and different.

Adidas and Scott explained the sneaker was homage to the classic high-top sneaker with a strap across the middle and, even further, reminiscent of My Pet Monster, a plush doll created by American Greetings in 1986.
So was this an image of slavery and racism or just poor taste in fashion?
