Michael Strahan Kindly Disagrees With Amani Toomer
Last week, former New York Giants’ receiver Amani Toomer said that, in his opinion, Tony Romo was the best quarterback in the NFC East--which would mean, of course, that Romo is better than Toomer’s former teammate and two-time Super Bowl champ Eli Manning.
Naturally, the statement made some waves. Also naturally, plenty of folks disagreed with Toomer’s statement, a group that includes Toomer’s other former teammate (and a longtime teammate of Eli Manning) Michael Strahan.
"You've got to check [Toomer's] house for bath salts," Strahan said in response, referring to the designer drug (which has been known to cause hallucinations).
Strahan went on to theorize that Manning may get less respect than he deserves, for whatever reason.
"Somebody's always better than the next, but to me, I just look at what people have done in their careers when it comes to the numbers and the things they’ve done to excel in where they are right now," Strahan said. "I look at Eli, and i think he's the only two-time [Super Bowl] winning quarterback in the league who probably gets less respect than anybody else. Maybe it's his demeanor, maybe it's the way he goes about his business where he's not showy and it's not fancy or extravagant looking. But you know what? Numbers don’t lie. People do.”
