Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen and Charles Barkley were not only three of the top players on the original Dream Team, but they were also among the top athletes that were representing Nike at the time of the 1992 Barcelona Olympics. With nostalgia running high for the 1992 squad - thanks to its 20th anniversary and an excellent documentary that dropped last month - Nike will be releasing a limited run of jerseys featuring all three stars.
Entitled the Nike Federation Authentic Jersey USA '92, the uniforms are a replica of the ones worn by the Dream Team during their epic run. Since Champion was the official supplier at the time, it will not look exactly like the ones worn in 1992, so purists might be a little turned off, but anything with Jordan's name on it with the Nike logo will be a surefire hit regardless. Other subtle changes including the piping on the shoulders and the Nike now prominently featured.
So far, the only players that have been revealed are Jordan, Barkley and Pippen, so it is unclear if the rest of the Dream Team will be represented as well. The jerseys are available now in foreign markets such as Titan in the Philippines, so USA fans waiting for USA gear will have to wait a little bit longer to get their hands on these jerseys.
Pricing for the jerseys overseas appears to be in the $100-$110 range, so expect something similar when it hits store shelves here.
