Chargers Caught with Illegal ‘Stickum’

Jay Glazer of Fox Sports is reporting the NFL is investigating the San Diego Chargers for using an illegal sticky material in their loss Monday night vs. the Denver Broncos.

Reportedly an official became suspicious of a substance in hand towels on the Chargers’ sideline and when attempting to confiscate it, the manager refused to hand it over. Not until others were brought over, did he finally reveal the banned sticky material, an item that has been banned since 1981.

It remains unclear who ordered the use of the material and who knew about it but it appears the Chargers will be the subject of an intense NFL investigation in the coming weeks. Commissioner Roger Goodell has made it clear there is a zero tolerance policy for issues comprimising player safety but this blatant disregard for league rules may yield yet another unprecented set of fines and penalties.
