My knowledge of Amy Schumer is limited, essentially, to the two stand-up clips and three sketches from this week’s Inside Amy Schumer that I just watched, but she’s pretty good. Well, the stand-up clips were hilarious, while the sketches from the Inside Amy Schumer pilot were “OK,” except for this one, which was pretty spot-on. She talks about gender roles and sex a ton, and she’s very profane, so what’s not to love? (Again, I don’t know her well enough to answer that question. There may be lots not to love). Over on Salan, they call Inside Amy Schumer a female-centric take on bro-comedy, and that sounds about right.
Anyway, I’m guessing we’ll be seeing a lot more of Amy Schumer, as her new Comedy Central show debuted with 1.6 million total viewers and 1.2 million Adults 18-49, which is the best new series premiere on the network this year across all demos. The Tosh.0 lead-in certainly helped, but those kind of ratings nevertheless suggest a second-season renewal is inevitable.
