If the outfit doesn’t look familiar, allow us to jog your memory
Yep. The Night Gwen Stacy Died, written by Gerry Conway, pencilled by Gil Kane, and inked by John Romita Sr. and Tony Mortellaro. In the story arc, the Green Goblin throws Gwen Stacy off a bridge. Spider-Man catches her with a web, but her neck snaps, killing her.
We already knew Gwen Stacy was going to be usurped by Mary Jane Watson (played by Shailene Woodley) at some point, but we didn’t know it would be so soon. We also didn’t know Chris Cooper (who is playing Norman Osborn in the next film) would transform into the Green Goblin right away.
On the other hand, director Marc Webb and costume designer Deborah Lynn Scott may just be playing with the rumor mill. Directors know pictures of any scene filmed outdoors these days will end up on websites like this one. They could always copy the outfit but use it in a different context. We’ll have to wait till The Amazing Spider-Man 2 opens next May 2nd to find out. By “we” I really mean “somebody else” because I’m not going to be there. I’ll be pre-gaming for Cinco de Mayo. It starts earlier every year, you guys.
