Report: Jay-Z Seeks To Represent Dodgers Outfielder Yasiel Puig
VIA: Los Angeles Dodgers center fielder Yasiel Puig is the latest target of rapper turned agent Jay-Z and is possibly looking to add him to the roster of his agency Roc Nation Sports, reports Yahoo! Sports.
According to the report, Puig was invited to a party at a club Jay-Z owns when the Dodgers were in town last month and a Dodgers teammate passed along the rapper’s contact information. Puig reportedly left the meeting intrigued.
Puig, 22, was the National League Player of the Month for June and is hitting .407 with eight homers and 19 RBI in 34 games this season.
Oklahoma City Thunder forward Kevin Durant, New York Yankees second baseman Robinson Cano, New York Jets rookie quarterback Geno Smith and Tulsa Shock guard Skylar Diggins have already joined Jay-Z’s firm, which is a partnership with Creative Artists Agency Sports launched earlier this year.
More from Yahoo! Sports:
While Puig has spoken with at least one more marketing agency in New York, the prospect of his joining Roc Nation as a client covering both baseball contracts and marketing remains a possibility, sources said.
Jay-Z also is known to be interested in signing another Cuban baseball player, Oakland A’s outfielder Yoenis Cespedes, according to a source. Next week, Cespedes will be in New York, Jay-Z’s hometown, for the Home Run Derby, and Puig could be as well if he wins the Final Vote for the last slot on the National League All-Star team.
