TV Ratings: 'Breaking Bad' Hits Another Record Ahead of Series Finale
VIA: Against big competition from the Emmys and the NFL, AMC's drama swells again with the penultimate episode.
Breaking Bad broke another record on Sunday night, swelling to 6.6 million viewers despite airing in one of the most crowded primetime arenas in months.
The AMC drama's penultimate episode, "Granite State," inched up from the previous record of 6.3 million viewers set last week -- up against the Emmys, NFL football and the series finale of Showtime's Dexter.
Among adults 18-49, the series was also at a high, with 4.3 million viewers. It also scored with adults 25-54, averaging 3.7 million viewers.
The series seems poised to outdo itself again with next week's series finale. After returning to huge year-to-year gains with the start of its final eight episodes, Breaking Bad has raised the bar twice more in the last month.
More record ratings capped off what was already a very good night for Breaking Bad. The series took its first drama win at the Emmys, and scored an additional win for star Anna Gunn in the supporting category.
