92 Year Old Lady Who Ran Over A Jogger Says She Fled The Scene Because She Had Diarrhea

NYDN – An elderly Arizona driver accused of hitting a jogger is claiming the dookie defense, insisting a case of diarrhea prevented her from staying at the scene. Persis Draper, 92, faces charges of fleeing the scene, failure to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk and failure to control speed from the Saturday crash that left Dori Stolmaker bruised, battered and with stitches in her elbow. “The diarrhea started up again after the accident happened. I was going to stop, but then the diarrhea came and I didn’t stop,” Draper, of Oro Valley, told the Arizona Daily Star. The harried nonagenarian sought relief at a nearby grocery store, where she used the restroom and then picked up dinner rolls for a potluck she planned to attend at her church. After around 45 minutes, Draper told the Daily Star she returned to the scene of the accident in her Lincoln Town Car, but that no one was around. “I didn’t leave a scene of an accident because I was running away. I’m not the type of individual who would do something like that. I left because I had diarrhea,” she said. “I went back to check and there wasn’t anybody there.” She dropped the rolls off at church and then went home — too stressed to attend the potluck. “I was upset and I wasn’t feeling good because of the diarrhea,” Draper said. “When I got home I took a pill and went to sleep.”
