Report: ESPN Interested in WWE Star Renee Young?

VIA: Per a recent report, ESPN could be interested in acquiring the talents of current WWE interviewer Renee Young.

As Dave Meltzer notes in this week's (subscription only) Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Young's work in wrestling has impressed many at the network, and the feeling is that ESPN may make her an offer soon:

ESPN is expected to make a major play for Renee Paquette, 29, who is Renee Young in WWE. She has impressed a lot of the networks with her smoothness in her work with WWE since coming from The Score where she was one of the hosts of Right After Wrestling, a Raw post-game show.

Young, who signed with WWE in October of 2012 and debuted on television soon after, has been quite the find for the company. In fact, she's easily one of the best female interviewers the company has ever had.

She's pretty, personable and charismatic. As a lifelong wrestling fan, she's clearly knowledgeable about the business.

Most importantly she's strong and confident on the mic. She doesn't get flustered or trip over her words like so many before her. She knows how to improvise. Consequently, her interviews—particularly the recent ones with The Shield—are usually great fun to watch.

No wonder ESPN executives are reportedly impressed with her—it's hard not to be.

This will be something to keep an eye on. Will Young stick with WWE for the foreseeable future? Or could she move to greener pastures and presumably an easier schedule like Todd Grisham and Jonathan Coachman before her?

We'll have to wait and see.

But one thing is for sure: If the Canadian does leave for opportunities elsewhere, it will be hard for the WWE to find another announcer with the same appeal to fans. She would be difficult to replace.
