Really NBC Is Handing Out Popsicles Made From NHL Arena Ice

VIA: The folks at NBC have taken to handing out treats for fans & media following the NHL playoffs this spring. First, they handed out “puckcakes” (cupcakes featuring team logos), which seemed appetizing and creative enough.

Their latest treat, however, sounds kind of gross even for diehard hockey fans.

The network is planning on handing out popsicles made from the leftover ice scrapings of NHL arenas around the league, including Minnesota, Chicago, Los Angeles and Anaheim. The ice pops are made with fresh fruit featuring the local team’s colors and use purified water and ice from the team’s arena surface.

I’m sure they’re taking all the necessary steps to make sure the pops are safe for eating, but the thought of slurping up the same ice that was covered in blood, sweat and tears from NHL action is still pretty nasty. Would you eat it?
